The 2008 Troop 445 Pancake Breakfast was a hit with all that came.
We had a number of walk in patrons that enjoyed pancakes, Bashman's sausage, orange juice or coffee.

Troop 445 - Troop News and Announcements

Saturday, 08 November 2008

I had the chance to visit the Troop meeting last Monday night in order to sign my merit badge counselor application and to work with a Scout on his camping merit badge.  While there, Bruce and I began discussing the 445 website and some changes that needed to be made.  Over the last week, I've been working on the site - upgrading and updating various parts of the site.  Some of the changes I've made include:

  • a new user registration system
  • a new registered user profiling system
  • a new dynamic list generator
  • a new private messaging system for registered users
  • a new chat room function for registered users
  • an upgraded weather component
  • upgraded site security
  • a new photo lightbox for viewing photos on both the front page and in the 445 photo galleries

I will describe some of these changes in detail on the next page.  Click the "Read More" link below to read on.

Some things on the 445 site have not changed.  ANY registered user can add news and information to the website.  ANY registered user has the ability to add and/or update events on the 445 Calendar.  ANY registered user has the ability to add photos to the 445 Photo Galleries.  This website was designed to be an interactive communication and recruiting tool.  Interactive means that more than one person (in this case the webmaster) is involved.

Troop 445 to Philmont in 2010? PDF Print E-mail
Troop 445 - Troop News and Announcements
Written by Shane Hoffman
Friday, 12 September 2008

It may seem that we just got back from Philmont, but it is time to start thinking about taking Troop 445 back to Philmont in 2010.

Troop leadership needs to get a count on the number of YOUTH interested in going to Philmont in 2010 so we will have an idea of how many crew slots to request in the Philmont lottery.

Who is eligible?  Here is Philmont's age requriements:

FOR THE 2010 SEASON, PHILMONT HAS CHANGED THEIR MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT.  The requirement reads as follows:

ALL PARTICIPANTS FOR THE 2010 SEASON MUST BE 14 YEARS OF AGE BY SEPTEMBER 1, 2010.

There is no allowance for school grade as in the past.

In addition, Troop 445 requires that each participant holds at least the rank of First Class.

The cost for the 2010 Philmont season will include:

  • The Philmont expedition fee - $620.00 per participant
  • Troop contingency fee - amount not yet set - probably about $320 per person
  • Shakedown and personal gear costs

If your son is interested in going to Philmont in 2010 and will meet the age requirements (he has some time to make First Class between now and then), please have him contact Mr. Ballenger or Mr. Jewell as soon as possible so they can get an idea of the number of youth interested in participation.

Please contact me if you have any questions.
